Barrel Roll! #114 – “Spacesassin’s Creed”
On this week’s “Barrel Roll! A Video Game Podcast”, Jonah and Jesse are joined by Adam. But not that Adam.
The brothers Gregory have a special guest in the form of Adam “Tidegear” Milecki from Rockin’ Android. The three come together to discuss the hacking of PSN, revelations on the new Assassin’s Creed game, the 3DS Ware store, and lots more.
In “what we’ve been playing”, Jesse and Adam give us a breakdown of Eschatos, Judgement Silversword, and Cardinal Sins, three SHMUPs on one sweet imported 360 disc. All three of the guys have given Outland a try. Jonah gets his fight on with some Mortal Kombat and WWE All-Stars, and goes to his backlog for some Rocket Slime.
All this, plus the new game releases of the week on episode #114, “Spacesassin’s Creed”.

Kicks to the Groin: Thoughts on Fairness

In a real life fight, some people will scratch, claw, bite, and pull hair in order to win. They will use whatever tools will give them an advantage, regardless of how unfair it might be. These are the type of people whose first move in combat will always be the kick to the groin. These are the type of people that always have an over-shield in Halo or an RCP 90 in Goldeneye.
To some, they are cheap bastards, to others they are simply taking advantage of what the game provides.
FOG Review: War Gods (N64)

“Friday Old Games” is a series of articles in which we review a game from the older generations of consoles, share why we picked it, and whether or not it holds up with time.
The Nintendo 64 was not known for the quality of its fighting games and War Gods certainly doesn’t help. This is one of those games that seems like the developers were trying to copy what their eight-year-old nephew told them Mortal Kombat was like, only the eight-year-old speaks a language no one understands and the uncle has a degenerative brain disease.
Sadly, some poor kid got this game for Christmas and now he hates war; all because of this game.
Review: Mortal Kombat vs DC Universe (Xbox 360, PS3)

"You're not an ordinary fella'!"
If it is not already a part of your lexicon, I would like to respectfully add the term “dumb fun”. “Mortal Kombat vs DC Universe” is pretty much the textbook definition of dumb fun. If games like Virtua Fighter or Street Fighter epitomize the pinnacle of fighting game technical brilliance, MK vs DCU is like the less attractive friend of the really hot girl who is not that smart or pretty, but is actually a ton of fun to hang out with.
