Dropped Skype calls, crashing computers, and more conspired to destroy our episode. But nothing can get our plucky hosts down as they talk Dogfighter, Portal: Still Alive, Gods Eater Burst, Winter Voices, Marvel VS Capcom 3 DLC and a lot more PokéMon.

That plus the new games this week on the latest podcastasode!

How the PokéMon Series Should Evolve

How the PokeMon Series Should Evolve

When PokéMon Red and Blue came out, I was as happy as a young boy could be. Catching monsters and using them in turn-based battles was an exciting concept. I can think of few games that I have obsessed over as much as the original PokéMon generation in its day.

That being said, I can’t help but feel like each new generation is limiting itself in a lot of very arbitrary ways. While some things never change in order to preserve connectivity with older titles, other aspects remain stagnant for no apparent reason.

That isn’t to say new generations aren’t bringing anything new to the table. As the series has progressed we’ve seen new areas, new PokéMon, new elements, double battles, and more. But I’d like to take a moment and re-examine the series and see where its great concept could go if it wasn’t held back by its old traditions.

"This Image Makes No Sense. Sorry."

"This image makes no sense. Sorry."

On a very special fifty-eight episode of “Barrel Roll! A Video Game Podcast”, Jesse, Jonah, and Adam try to catch them all. It ends tragically.

In “The Games We Played Since Last Time”, Jesse and Adam mock Mega Man 10′s easy mode, Jesse gets even more in-depth with Final Fantasy XIII, and Adam tries out the Monster Hunter Tri demo. "What's more logical than combining Tetrid Attack and PokeMon?"

"Panel de PokéMon!"

Friday Old Games” is a series of articles in which we review a game from the older generations of consoles, share why we picked it, and whether or not it holds up with time.

Long before the sequel to Meteos was themed with Disney characters, a Japanese puzzle game named Panel de Pon came over to North America after being re-branded with characters from Super Mario World 2: Yoshi’s Island and renamed Tetris Attack. Jump four years ahead and we find the game now re-re-branded with a paint job of the ever popular PokéMon series.
