Barrel Roll! #132 – “Space Glasses 3: The Sacred Stones”

2

Space Glasses are back, and this time, it’s even more personal.

On this, the one-hundred and thirty-second Barrel Roll, Jonah and Jesse are joined by Rockin’ Android’s own Adam Milecki for an augmented cyber-future podshow. It’s no surprise that all three of the guys have been delving into the world of Deus Ex: Human Revolution since it combines man show favorites: robot arts, space glasses and Metal Gears.

But before getting into that, the new releases for the week are discussed, followed by the news. The Dragon Quest X press conference was happening during the recording, but we edited out the parts that involved the hosts watching clips, as it didn’t make for the best audio show.

They also discuss Jonah’s initial impressions of Bastion, Jesse’s brief time (so far) with the upcoming Gundemonium Collection, and Adam brings us up to speed on the latest changes to Captain Jameson. He also tells us about Thrustburst and Forget-Me-Not.

All this and more on Barrel Roll! #132, “Space Glasses 3: The Sacred Stones”.

Space Glasses are back, and this time, it’s personal.

On our one-hundred and twelfth episode of “Barrel Roll! A Video Game Podcast”, the guys are very opinionated on their video games, particularly when it comes to the latest Nintendo Wii 2: HD Remix: Champions Edition rumors. We also talk about the latest releases of the week.

Later the guys discuss Captivate, which Adam had the opportunity to attend. He gives us his opinions on what he saw, including Asura’s Wrath, Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City, Dead Rising 2: Off the Record and Dragon’s Dogma.

Jesse warns everyone to avoid the new Yar’s Revenge and Jonah plays the most Katamari game since Katamari, The Wonderful End of the World.

Review: Heavy Rain (PS3)

Heavy Rain is an interesting game. It tries to do a lot of things in a way that other titles have not done before. Rather than going for the straight up adventure or action game, the goal was to make a piece of interactive fiction; a movie where you control the character decisions and the final outcome.

It is a hard one to talk about without giving away any spoilers, but I will keep this review completely spoiler free. Have no fear if you have not yet played Heavy Rain. It’s plot secrets are safe with me.

Review: No More Heroes 2: Desperate Struggle (Wii)

"An over-the-top brawler powered by absurdity."

"An over-the-top brawler powered by absurdity."

No More Heroes 2: Desperate Struggle is the newest game from the twisted mind of Suda 51. This time around, the zany brawler comes in a more streamlined package than the first, trimming the fat to bring you more ridiculous action.

Desperate Struggle stars Travis Touchdown, the anime/videogame loving assassin, as he battles his way up the ranks of the UAA once again. This time, Travis is trying to take down the number one assassin to avenge the death of his friend, Bishop. But even if you haven’t played the first game, jumping into the second shouldn’t have you too confused. In fact, the characters even playfully break the fourth wall in the beginning to mention that some players are skipping the first game and don’t care about the past events.

"You think I don't know Space Glasses when I see them?"

On a very special forty-fifth episode of “Barrel Roll! A Video Game Podcast”, the guys learn the hard way that even a man with space glasses can’t always trust his own space glasses to get him out of space glasses related troubles.

…or CAN he?
