Mega Man 9: Back in Blue Available For Free Download
Video game music is a staple around the WingDamage offices. Especially considering our very own Main Finger is known to remix it from time to time. We’re also pretty big Mega Man fans, as evidenced by the fact that two of our regulars also write for The Mega Man Network.
If you are like us in this regard, then good news! OverClocked ReMix just released a brand new Mega Man 9 themed album, Mega Man 9: Back in Blue. It contains 18 tracks of remixed goodness from the likes of Sixto Sounds, bLiNd, Joshua Morse and our very own Jesse “Main Finger” Gregory.
It was a long time in the making, and lot of blood, sweat and robo-tears went into its creation. So much so that a sequel game came out before this album was able to. So the only question left is, what are you waiting for? Go download it now!
Fans Unite Their Musical Talents in Harmony of a Hunter, a Metroid Album
While Nintendo has been awfully quiet about the 25th anniversary of Metroid in favor of pushing Zelda, fans have been putting together their own tribute. Metroid fan site Shinesparkers.net enlisted the help of artists from the OverClocked ReMix community as well as other musicians from around the net to put together a two disc album of music covering the entire Metroid series.
Harmony of a Hunter concentrates pure Metroid fandom into a two and a half hour musical celebration. 24 different artists including Zircon, Stemage (of Metroid Metal), Mazedude and many others contributed to the album covering a variety of styles. You’ll hear music from the game that started it all right up to Other M.
There’s talk of a very limited physical release, but for now space jump over to the official site and download the album and all its artwork for free. It’s guaranteed to increase your life’s completion rating.

In 2005, the OverClocked ReMix community took on the challenge of remixing the entire soundtrack to Sonic The Hedgehog 2 with Hedgehog Heaven. In 2006, they arranged the music of Sonic 3 and Sonic & Knuckles with Project Chaos.
Now, almost five years later, the remix trilogy will finally be complete with The Sound of Speed, an album of new interpretations of the music from the original Sonic the Hedgehog. The thirteen track album marks the community’s 25th project release.

Finally, there’s an album with remixes of those Cyborg Justice songs you’ve been dying to hear all these years! What’s that? You aren’t familiar with Cyborg Justice?! I guess I’ll let you slip by this time seeing as how I barely recall it myself (other than a vague memory of it inspiring me to make some clay figures of robots with interchangeable parts).
Joking aside, game and TV composer Brian Davis’ new album, In Memory of the Mega Drive, features a very interesting collection of music. The 50-track album covers a variety of songs from the system known to North America as the SEGA Genesis. (more…)

OCRemix Releases an Episodic Album: Final Fantasy V: The Fabled Warriors
Now here’s something interesting. We’ve heard of episodic games, but what about episodic albums? Rather than waiting several years to release all five discs of their new album, Final Fantasy V: The Fabled Warriors, OverClocked ReMix has decided to do make it available one disc at a time.
Of course, like all OCR albums The Fabled Warriors is 100% free (and available in both MP3 and FLAC formats). Each disc is labeled after a different crystal with Disc I taking the name “Wind”. While we may only have access to one disc at the moment, it features 9 songs spanning many different genres from a variety of artists including Sixto Sounds, Zircon, DarkeSword, and more.
So head on over to the album’s site and grab Disc I. Afterall, it’s free. Still not convinced? Check out the teaser video after the break.
