Four and a Half Minutes of Pure Final Fantasy Type-0 Gameplay Footage
Sure, Square-Enix might be concentrating its North American focus on Final Fantasy XIII-2, but Japan will soon get a far more interesting looking game in the series. Final Fantasy Type-0 is a fast paced action RPG and is part of the same Fabula Nova Crystallis mythology. While it may not be confirmed to come overseas, a Japanese demo has been released that will work just fine if your firmware is up to date.
Having played through the demo myself, I left quite impressed. The large number of characters you can play as with their varying weapons and abilities have a nice sense of variety. And each of the demo’s levels have a lot going on, some even involving multiple miniboss monsters. I’ve pieced together some highlights from each demo stage below for your viewing pleasure. (more…)
Review: Final Fantasy XIII (PS3, Xbox 360) with Battle Explanation Video

"How does it hold up to the hype?"
Final Fantasy XIII has been a long time coming. To give you a little perspective, the game started its initial development on the PS2. Here we are in 2010, about three and a half years into the PS3′s lifespan, and the game has finally dropped. With teaser videos shown as early as they were, the game has been anticipated for so long that its release onto store shelves seems almost awkward.
The first thing you’ll notice upon booting up FFXIII is that it is an extremely pretty game. While some argue that there are more technically impressive looking games (have gamers really become this joyless?), FFXIII stands above most thanks to its superb art direction. Every enemy, character, and environment looks beautiful. Colors are vibrant, designs are ornate, and everything is a real treat to look at.
Lost Planet 2 Multiplayer Beta Impressions and HD Gameplay Video
There are a few new things on the horizon for WingDamage. One of these is HD video. Above, you’ll find a montage of gameplay footage recorded from one of my play sessions of the Lost Planet 2 multiplayer beta. This video is a bit of a guinea pig for video capturing, editing, and processing, so expect quality to increase with future videos.
At the beginning, you can see the basis of the weapon customization system. There are five categories to customize. The weapons dropped on the stage from your point of view will be based on those selections. For example, you might see a short range weapon drop. Depending on your settings, this will give you either a shotgun or a revolver. It’s a really interesting system that I look forward to seeing expanded on in the full game.
See Zero Kick Ass in Tatsunoko vs. Capcom: Ultimate All Stars
We don’t normally post news on WingDamage, but this video was a little too tasty not to share. In the video above, we see the Mega Man X series version of Zero doing what he does best: kicking the collective asses of everyone in the general vicinity. Though he was revealed through a leak earlier, finally seeing him in action is a whole new batch of awesome.
Even being one of the people who paid way too much to import the Japanese version of this game back in December 2008, I would gladly pay full price again for these extra characters (and to a lesser extent, the added online multiplayer). While I was originally worried that this game would not sell well due to all the importers like myself, Capcom has proved their cleverness in how to bring the title over.
